Congregation Beth Chofesh

Rabbi Felix and Bonnie Halpern

Born in Holland, Rabbi Felix Halpern immigrated to the United States as a young boy where, in his early twenties, he came to the knowledge of his Messiah. Rabbi Halpern's Jewish heritage is on his father's side, and includes a grandfather who was an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi and leader of his own synagogue in Germany. On his mother's side there is a heritage of resistance against the Nazis on behalf of the Jewish people, chronicled in a book authored by his mother, Memoirs of the War Years.

Before entering full-time ministry, Rabbi Halpern established a lucrative career in the precious metals and diamond industry located in the heart of the International Diamond Center of New York City. Spending more than two decades in this industry, Rabbi Halpern was immersed in the Orthodox and Hassidic Jewish communities and knows well the heart of the Jewish people.
Rabbi Halpern ministers throughout the body on the Jewish roots of New Covenant Faith, teaching with a strong emphasis on the election of Israel and the extraordinary role of the church as the end-time steward of the Jewish harvest. He currently serves as President of the National Jewish Fellowship as well as on the International Board of Ethnicity for the Assemblies of God. Rabbi Halpern also ministers to and teaches Christian businesspeople how to apply "Kingdom Release Principles"—keys to unlocking greater personal success and blessing for the kingdom of God. These principles were used in his own business acumen as a former Vice President for a multimillion-dollar international company.

His wife, Bonnie, was raised in a traditional Jewish home. Bonnie searched for her Messiah through her adolescent years, and had supernatural experiences from the Lord as a child. All of this proved Hashem's hand was on her life from early on. She has a strong and distinct calling as a gifted speaker and effective motivator of women. Bonnie is also a Nutritional Consultant teaching and training the body of Messiah on the "Keys to Physical and Spiritual Health."

Film and Books about Rabbi Halpern's Family

The USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education, established by Steven Spielberg, taped a story for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum library, which included Rabbi Halpern's grandfather, an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi of a synagogue in Germany. The film also shares his father's story—one of survival as an Orthodox Jewish boy escaping Nazi-occupied Germany through the heroic efforts of the Dutch underground. The film is a poignant picture, a testimony to the millions of Jews whose lives were forever altered and the subsequent generations that were blotted from history.

Rabbi Halpern's maternal side claims a heritage of resistance against the Nazis. This was chronicled in a book authored by his mother, Susan Stroomenbergh-Halpern, entitled Memoirs of the War Years: The Netherlands, 1940–1945: A Christian Perspective. It is the story of a Dutch family's valiant efforts to launch a resistance movement against the Nazis on behalf of the Jewish people. Those efforts were recognized on December 22, 1997, at the Righteous Among the Nations Ceremony held at the Israeli Embassy in New York by Consul General Colette Avital. Medals and documents were given to memorialize the sacrifices of Rabbi Halpern's mother and maternal grandparents.
